This initiative is part of our grassroots, independent LinkedIn group, dedicated to passionate data scientists who are committed to the practical application of scientific knowledge to drive positive change, advance innovation, and better society through data-driven solutions.
As the owner of the Data Scientists group on LinkedIn with over 188,000 members from 172 different countries, I deeply value each of your unique perspectives. Our community is diverse, vibrant, and growing, and I believe that by coming together, we can shape the future of our field in meaningful ways.
To achieve this, we’re launching a series of Online Kitchen Table Conversations (OKTC). These conversations are intimate, online sessions where small groups of 4 to 8 members gather for about an hour and a half to share their thoughts and insights on what our community truly values, our shared goals, and how we can collaborate more effectively to achieve our mission.
This initiative is entirely independent and not affiliated with any commercial entity. It’s all about giving our members a voice. We aim to include 1,000 of you in these conversations, which will form the basis of our Data Scientists Community Listening Report. This report will help us understand whether we’re on the right track as a community and identify areas where we might want to drive change.
The role of the data scientist is rapidly evolving, with unprecedented amounts of data and extraordinary technological advancements reshaping our field. We want to hear from you—what do you want for the future of data science? Are we on the right path, or is there something more we should be striving for?
Your participation is crucial, and I encourage you to join us in these conversations. Please like, comment, and share this post to register your interest. Let’s work together to ensure that our group not only stays relevant but also leads the way in the ever-evolving world of data science.
Hope to see you at the table!
The OKTC initiative is designed for both emerging and established data scientists who are eager to expand their knowledge, enhance their skills, and contribute to a global community of like-minded professionals. It is particularly beneficial for those who value diversity and seek to engage with a wide range of voices and ideas in the field.
Expected Outcomes:
- A stronger, more interconnected global community of data scientists.
- Accelerated innovation through the sharing of ideas and collaborative problem-solving.
- Enhanced technical and analytical skills among participants.
- Increased contributions to open-source projects and open data initiatives.
Overall, the OKTC for Data Scientists Initiative represents a comprehensive approach to advancing the field of data science by harnessing the power of openness, knowledge sharing, cutting-edge technology, and global collaboration.
